Suits: A Look Behind The Scenes

In honor of last night's summer finale of the USA Network series, Suits, we decided to share some behind-the-scenes stuff we found!

C and I are huge fans of Suits. So, we were both way overly excited when we found Mike's (Patrick J. Adams') Tumblr. He mentioned it in an interview with Jimmy Fallon, so I immediately googled it to find out more. He's both an actor and a photographer, and as a photographer he calls himself "Half Adams". (Yeah, idk.)

Anyway Patrick J. Adams' (Mike's) Tumblr gives you a look behind the scenes and into his mind:
"If looks could kill"
Donna is my favorite. She's all-knowing, snarky, and people fear her - just the kind of woman I aspire to be one day.

I also found (in my google search) a page on USA Network's website that has a gallery of photos taken by Adams. We were happy to see it has tons of behind-the-scenes photos of the actors of Suits.

Check it out for some really fun photos of your favorite characters:
>: [
I didn't ask C, but I'm sure this photo is her favorite, since she has a total crush on Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and this pic of him is hilarious and kind of adorable.

New episodes are set to air again this January!

Summer Hair Care Tips & Recipes

During the summer, between the pools, humidity, and ocean, hair can get crazy damaged. So we thought we would put up some good tips to help battle and prevent that awful hair damage!

One thing everyone should do about once a week is use a deep-conditioning hair mask. I personally like Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition 3-Minute Treatment. And if I don't have enough I just mix in some normal conditioner...

I just leave it in for a couple of hours while watching TV or when I'm at home doing homework or something. Then rinse in the shower and you're golden! You can even put on a shower cap and leave it on overnight for extra conditioning.

Another good conditioning tip - Putting just a bit of coconut oil in your hair daily is a slightly less greasy option. Coconut oil is great for hair! It prevents dandruff, nourishes damaged hair, and some say it can even promote more hair growth.

This is the one me and my grandma use!
(Microwave for like 15 - 20 seconds)

Or, to make your own hair mask, mix any of the following together for a homemade deep conditioning mask:
  • Mashed Avocados
  • Mashed Bananas
  • Honey
  • Yogurt
  • Eggs
  • Olive Oil
  • Other Oils like Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, or Avocado Oil
  • Mayonnaise
  • Whole Milk
It sounds more like a grocery list than a list of hair conditioners, I know lol. Just mix a couple of things from the list together and leave the mixture in your hair for half an hour to an hour, then shampoo out. It may be a bit ugly and lumpy, but you'll get great results!

To prevent summer hair damage, just use one simple tip before diving into the ocean or the pool. Soak your hair in regular water before swimming. Basically, your hair can only soak up so much water, so if you soak it in regular water before swimming, it won't soak up the salty ocean water or chlorinated pool water that would normally cause tons of damage to your healthy hair.

Also, throw a bottle of detangler and a brush or comb into your beach/pool bag to keep your hair from being a tangled mess. Tangles can be super damaging! After swimming, just spray liberal amounts of the detangler all over your hair, then run a brush or comb through it and let it air dry. Personally, I prefer the Suave for Kids version, because it's like $2 and smells like strawberries! But Pantene has a great detangler for adults for a couple of dollars more.

ALSO! We put up a new poll, we'd love to hear from you!
(Seriously. Go Vote.)

Update: "A Thing Called Divine Fits"

Quick update to this morning's post!
NPR just added Divine Fits' upcoming new album, "A Thing Called Divine Fits" to their "First Listen" page.

Divine Fits, "My Love Is Real"

My absolute favorite (currently active) band is Spoon. If you've never heard them, you have to listen to them immediately. If you're a big fan like me, you will be ecstatic to know that the band's singer, Britt Daniel is finally releasing new material. He's now part of a collaboration super-band, involving Spoon's Britt Daniel, Wolf Parade's Dan Boeckner, and New Bomb Turk's Dan Brown. Their first album "A Thing Called Divine Fits" will be released in the US on August 28th. However they've released their first single, which you can stream at the band's Facebook Page, in exchange for a "Like," or listen to it below.

You can also check out more about the band at their website.

Make Your Own Nail Art Stickers!

So, today's post just might change your life. All you'll need is a clean, smooth ziploc bag, and some nail polish to make your own nail stickers!

These DIY decals are awesome for putting designs onto the hand you paint with, so you don't end up with one cute hand and one Frankenstein hand..

Basically, all you have to do is paint whatever little pictures or designs you want to put on your nails onto the ziploc baggie, then let them dry. That's it! When the designs have dried completely, they'll peel right off.

Carefully peel your dried decals off the ziploc bag, (I recommend lightly bending the bag back and forth first to loosen them up) apply them to your polished nails, and finish up with topcoat!

Givers, "In Light"

Sorry for the little hiatus guys! But you'll definitely forgive us after hearing today's band! ;)

Today's band is from Lafayette, Louisiana. They're called Givers and they just released an addictive album called "In Light" on June 7th. Their music is the kind of music that on your first listen, you're happily intrigued, and as you listen to it over and over you get more and more addicted until you find yourself out and about thinking, "Why am I not listening to Givers right now?"

Their sound is very Vampire Weekend meets Beach House. It's lovely. You can stream their music below:

I was lucky enough to get a chance to see them this past Sunday at Union Transfer in philly. They were so much fun! I've seen a lot of concerts, and Givers was definitely one of the most fun ones! They seemed genuinely excited and happy to be playing for the crowd. It was infectious, everyone was dancing. I'm pretty sure one guy in front of me was line-dancing. If you get a chance to see them in concert, do!

The drummer was awesome! She kept picking up different instruments and playing them. At one point, she  had a tambourine in one hand, a maraca in the other, then she started playing the drums using them!
